In the Philippines, there are four bicycle owners for every car owner. There are hundreds of McDonald’s branches across the archipelago and the brand observed cyclists using these as stopovers. So in a first for the world, we motivated cyclists across the country by turning every McDonald’s into a cycling destination and refueling station for cyclists by creating Bike & Dine facilities and serving special Cyclist Meals.
Cyclists were inspired to ride from arch to arch with 100 scenic routes created on Strava, using data from the Department of Tourism, Google and travel websites, curated for distance, locality and ability with McDonald’s as the start and end points.
In just 4 months, more than 51,000 kilometers have been cycled, 1080+ cyclists meals sold per day, and there has been a +25% increase in Ride-Thru sales.
